Cut fan shroud in half?

Anyone ever cut one in half horizontally to make it easier to remove? With it stock you have to take the clutch fan off which can be a pain, would make everything easier if you could take the shroud out first, then you'd have more room to get the clutch fan off, or alternator out. I'm thinking, cut in half horizontally, you'd have 2 bolts holding each half on. If you did it vertically, the way the bolts are the center may flex out, but horizontally I would think it would be allright.

Just pull the lower part of the shroud off:

would love to, but mine is all one piece. Just finished cutting it in half, looks like it'll work like a champ!
