can u put 81' lift kit on 84' pickup

i've noticed alot of places ask if your truck is a 79-83 or a 84-85. well i have an 84 and i found a 3 1/2" lift for cheep but its for a 81', will this matter? i want it to bolt straight up if i get used parts, otherwise im gonna buy new stuff
