auto to stick change

i have an 85 4runner with the 22re auto... im able to get an 84 4runner for $400 that has a stick in it... is it worth going threw all the mess to change over?

my plans are to pull what i need and part the rest out and junk whatever is left... body is pretty well shot... has a good top.. solid axel, motor runs when you poor gas down the carb other wise doesnt get fuel... new fuel pump, new oil pump...

it cant be driven because it wont run long enough to try to move it... so im unsure how well the trans/t-case works

$400 is a steal. You can part it and make your money back in no time, even IF the trans is bad.

Btw, sounds like the accelerator pump is toast.

id go for it, especially for only 400 dollars.

the only big issue you will run into when switching it from an auto is drilling a hole in the end of the crankshaft to accommodate the pilot bearing. The only other modification you have to do is drill the firewall for the master cylinder, and prolly cut a little of the floor tunnel for the different shifter positions. I dont think you have to do any TCM/PCM mods on an efi engine that old.

All 22R crankshafts are drilled to accept a pilot bearing.

If you are not sure, be careful the advice you give out. That can ruin a mans day.
