86 22RE radiator to 22RET radiator swap
I have a leaking radiator in my SR5 and was just woundering if I could swap out my old one row with a 3 row off of a 22ret? They are about the same size and the outlets are about the same. The parts store wants $139 for the stock 1 row and they have to order it. The 3 row off the 86 22ret is $119 and they have it in stock. I was just thinking that I could get more bang or cooling for my money.

Well I got the new radiator today and droped it in. While I was filling it up with coolant I kept waiting for it to over flow like my old one but it took the whole gallon and then took abit of water. All that I can think is that my old one was pluged 100%. I burped the hell out of it and took it for a drive. It never got to the half way mark during the trip. One of the cool things is that the engine does not tick or knock any more. I can hear the radio again. Before the cooling fan would kick on and run for a long time. Almost the whole time that the truck was running and then for about 5-10min after it was shut off. On the trip to the store it only came on when I parked it and then it was only on for about 1 min.The old radiator looked clean and I had flushed it many times, but it must have been pluged down deep. When in doubt replace. I am very glade that I didn't run it hard and cook the new head.
