85 forerunner engine?

I just bought an 85 forerunner and was wondering are all the vaccum lines, hose, etc neccessary for this engine to run properly? there seems to be alot of smog or emission lines on the engine. I have always played with the old chevy v8 and did not have all this in the way.

all that stuff was put there for a reason so id say just leave it alone, if it runs good now dont mess with it.
