85 4Runner Front Lift Springs Suggestions

Hello

I am looking to get some suggestions and input from fellow solid axle 4Runner owners.
Currently I am running Downey 3" lift springs on my 85. The ride sucks and there is barely any suspension movement. I am not expecting to get an IFS ride out of her but am looking for an improvement over what I now have. This rig is a daily driver, so not looking to relocate hangers or do anything extreme to get major flex with her. I don't intend to put a winch on the front. I haul a canoe occasionally and load it with camping gear and tow small trailers. I am happy with the rear suspension. I am looking at the OME 2.5 Light springs. I would like to lower the front a .5 inch also. Am also looking into custom springs or having the Downey springs reworked over by a spring shop. Any suggestions? How are the OME as far as ride? Thanks for reading.

I think OME is about as good as you're going to get, except for custom Alcans/Deavers or whomever is the spring makers these days. If budget were no real worry, I would go custom. Otherwise you really need a longer leaf to change the ride and soften it a bit, which means changing hanger locations. Just my opinion...

Thanks that's what I was figuring. I think I may just give the OME's a shot. Also will look into custom springs.

Yours are in better shape than mine...mine are making a rainbow shape now. Coincidentally I just ordered a full OME kit...I'll post updates when it comes and is installed.

I have the OME's front and rear with factory shackles and I think the ride is pretty good considering its an old straight axle yota. was a little stiff when new but they have been on about 2 years now and its been great. recently went high steer/cross over and I couldn't be happier

Up until about 2 months ago I had the factory stuff and it was fine, so almost 2 years, the drag link was at about a 10*-15* angle. A little much I thought but never gave me any trouble as a light wheeler. the steering wheel was off to the right and it drove me nuts though.
