85 4 runner engine conversion
Hi all,
I have trawlled the threads to look for what I'm after but couldn't find so I'm asking the question. I have an 85 4runner with the 2.4 ltr diesel engine. This is a full project car and is being completely rebuilt. I want to put a 1KZ 3.0 ltr turbo diesel engine (2000) in it. I have sourced the engine, loom and cpu. I was wondering if anyone had done this and if you can help with the issue of the gearbox. I don't believe my current G52 gearbox will bolt straight onto the engine but not sure if its as simple as geting a different bell housing or having to get a conversion kit. I don't think I'll need a conversion kit but need some advise on what may work. The wreckers I have spoken to are all varied in opinion so I am at a loss. Its a lot of work but will be a great engine to go in. And if you can tell me if you can think of any other issues.
Cheers.

From what I understand the g series is too weak to run behind that motor. Your better off getting getting a r151f from a later model toyota. That should bolt up. I haven't done it myself but I've been researching swaps for a white for when I actually get around to doing it
