Welcome to YT!

There are a few different options for soft tops. STC, Can-Back, Bikini tops, home-made etc.

Did you try the search feature yet?

I have the STC, not a bikini top exactly, but the sides & back roll up & it folds down.

Here are a few links you may want to check out.

Okay but I have a question how do they all mount? I have looked at all of the sites and from the pics I really can't tell. I don't want to drill into the body of my truck.

To install the Downey top you have to drill 2 5/16 holes near the roof line but they get covered up when you put the hard top back on. and you will have to mount 2 brackets to tie down the straps like this:

To put the top back on, you'll have to take these brackets off, but the holes will be covered once the top is reinstalled.

You can also use some other tops with some creativity. My bikini is actually to a Jeep YJ, but it works pretty well, and once I shape the mounting bracket it will fit flush.

No they don't..... It is in their catalog though. I'm not sure what the part number is, and I didn't have the part number when I called. I just told them I was trying to order the bikini top and they took care of me.

I paid $188 for it including shipping to Arizona.

I like that and all but with how the weather changes all the time I am really looking for a soft top that covers the whole back part of the truck not just the seats. Maybe if I was out in AZ I would do something like that but here in MD it's different, plus I wouldn't want anything of mine to "walk" away.

You can make something out of canvas for the bed, and just lock everything else with bike cables to you're roll bar.

Or you can take the straps and put them around the tail gate latches,
you don't have to worry about taking them off. It will not hurt the straps.

STC or Can-Back will work. If somebody wants your stuff bad enough, they'll just cut the top though. I just try to take all my valuables out when unattended. Leave nothing to steal & they lose interest I hope.

I run a bikini top like the one pictured above (same color Runner too), and I live in MD.

Of course it's not a DD and it lives in my garage.

It's okay but for me I'm looking more for a soft top that I can not worry about if it rains or the truck sitting overnight but at the same time the advantage of being able to go topless with out moving the hard shell top everytime that it's nice out. Thats why I would rather have a top that covers the whole rear of the truck.

4runner bikini tops.... again

Here is a website, keeping being told to use the bikini top from a Jeep YJ, so heres one....
wondering if anyone has used this specific type and what they had to do to modify it to fit their 4runner, specifically:
1. there is not the smaller bar running off the roll bar in the back (so had to make your own or what?) cause i can
2. did you have to make your own holder in the front of the canvas?
3..... buy it from a place like this basically for the fabric correct?
...Thanks guys

There are numerous folks who have built a bikini top for their 1st gen 4Runner and thus there are numerous write-ups concerning such. If you will do a simple search of "bikini tops" or "bikini" you should find the information you are looking for.

Jeep YJ tops are not the best option IMO.
