22RE runs like crap!
My '86 4runner with rebuilt 22re has an evil Idle! The truck lopes through the rpm's! from idle up to 3k. not horrible at 6,000 ft El. But much worse closer to sea level. I know this is a cause of a vaccum leak! I replaced the EGR to intake plenum gasket and it helped with one of the leaks but there is more that I cant find! Also, the check engine light flashes 11 times indicating that its the (tps) throttle position sensor or (tps) circuit. Another problem I have is that the exhaust manifold is cracked a 1/2" above the o2 sensor. Going to have to wait on getting another manifold, however I thought that replacing the o2 sensor and (tps) would get me a step in the right direction as far as acheiving a smooth idle again!
please shoot me some advice guys!

Did you test and adjust the TPS, either prior to or after installing the new one?

To 4crawler: No! I did not test the tps at all! I don't have any testing equipment for that. I'm just a young rookie who decided to do a motor swap by himeself. I know just the basics and I'm still learning new things everyday! Firday i am going to Pick' n ' pull in Reno, NV And I am going to buy a bunch of stuff! Plans are to replace the o2 sensor, (tps), maybe find a used manifold since mines cracked around the o2 sensor. going to spray carb cleaner around all the vaccum lines. Also might consider finding some new/used fuel injectors and running a good quality cleaner in a few tanks of gas.
To Bojangles: Why would it be a temp sensor? I dont undersatnd who propper coolant emps will affect the Idle of a 22re? I think i just have a bad vaccum leak and/or a bad sensor some where! I did mention that i am getting a code eleven. Appparently means its a bad tps or tps circuit to the ECU. I am just going to try different things to get it to run correctly!

Well worth $5 or so to pick up an inexpensive multimeter:

Nice thing on the 22RE, you can easily test most of the sensors and devices with one:

And the ECU coolant temp. sender can cause the ECU to vary idle speed, perhaps even due to air pockets in the cooling system. When the sender reads cold, the ECU bumps up the idle speed/adds fuel to warm up the engine, when hot, the idle speed is cut. Air in the cooling system can cause this as bubbles of air around the sender = cold reading.
And on the vacuum leaks, one option is to replace all the vacuum lines. Did that on my '85 and cleared up some issues:
