22re to 3.4 85 4runner help
i have a 1985 4 runner that i put a 97 3.4 v6 into. when i first tried to start it we didnt have any spark at the plugs. i installed the obd2 plug and before i could plug it in we noticed spark came back. the truck fired right up and i drove it a couple weeks. i tried to run the obd2 codes but had 2 different scanners tell me it couldnt communicate with my vehicle. drove it any way and it ran good. none of the gauges worked to good so i installed some 2 inch euuus. the oil was mechanical and i had to remove the oil sensor to install the port. the temp i installed the sender under the plenium against the fire wall. i removed the 1 wire plug and installed the equus sender running my own wire. i put the battery one where it used to be in the wiring harness . as for the rpm come to find out i shouldnt have put it in its usual spot on the 22re harness. guess itll ground the system. found that out after it woudnt start and thought if i unhooked it the truck would fire up. didnt work...
like always it wouldnt fire up. when i fix ˟˟˟˟ i fix ˟˟˟˟ good lol. started checken and found out the phantom problem came back. i got 12 v to the coil packs but no spark at the plugs. turns over fine and dont even try and fire. i went to the store and spent 100 bucks on a obd2 scanner. weird thing is, i didnt change anything and now all the sudden the scanner is reading.i have 4 codes, one for temp censer 1 for oil censer, mass airflow and tps i believe. thing ran great before i installed the gauges. all fuses and grounds seem fine. im more of a fabricator than a mechanic. thanks for any ideas, im about over this project ps... the engine harness was done by a company in north carilina called tweeked performance. it ran great for 2 weeks so i assume they did a great job. im new to all this ecu ˟˟˟˟.

Myself I would start reading all the threads in the 3.4 swap section.
Someplace you have a poor connection .
Perhaps even poor grounds.
OBD II plugs can corrode getting the unable to connect message is quite common when I try and pull codes .
Sometimes just unplugging and reconnecting is enough. Other times Electronic cleaner is needed
