1st gen 4R - how to make dim blinkers brighter
I always use my blinkers. Judging by how much other drivers pay attention to them and based on some feedback I got from a bystander, I don't think folks can see my blinkers because they're too dim. How can I make them brighter? Clear lenses? Better bulb? Updated electrical connection?
Thanks for any pointers!

I found the inside of the lenses and the bulbs on my '87 to be covered with a thick layer of fine road dust.
Just cleaning the inside of the lenses and the bulbs doubled the brightness on mine.

If someone were to upgrade to LEDs the same color as the lens they would be brighter but would you have to add resisters or something to keep them from blinking too fast? Can anyone who has done this comment?
EDIT: I see member "Uzi Suicide" just linked similar in another thread. 1st gens take a 1156 bulb in front and rear blinkers. These include the resisters to prevent hyper flash. I think these would work in the signal lights $19.79 each but they seem really long:

Thanks for the feedback guys. I greased the sockets and cleaned the bulb on the offending right side. I don't see any difference in the 2 sides after that clean up, so I guess I'm going to look into a brighter bulb or something similar to the LEDs. Yeah $20 per side is a bit much, hopefully I have some other options.

Good suggestion with the ground, I will be looking for those as I go - clean, grease, reassemble.
It's hard to say how dim is "dim." I can understand not being able to see them in broad daylight, but most of my driving is lower light like morning and evening and drivers are constantly acting like they can't tell I am using turn signals. I can see the blinkers fine when I turn on flashers and get out of the truck, but I know what I'm looking for I guess.
