1986 Toy PU - SUPERCAB

I am a proud owner of an 1986 Toyota pickup. This truck was one of the few that was customized in the 80's with a super extended cab. The 4-cylinder rebuilt engine has approximately 23k miles on it. The truck: approximately 180K. It also has a Webber carb. The tires are tough; they are old but still hold much tread. The interior & exterior need TLC. I would love to get some feedback from my fellow Toyota PU fans as to how much this truck might be worth. I'm still working on uploading the phots...I hope to have the up today. I'M BRAND NEW AT THIS...

Its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm excited for pictures.

Look at the Trekkers. only 1000 some produced and people would cut the backs off of them and install a truck box because they wanted a truck, not a trekker. Rare is only more valuable if someone wants it in its current state.

If you just want to sell it, your best bet will be to put it on something like ebay and let the market dictate the value. It's rare, because there are not that many. It's cool because it's different. However, they are not the hot button vehicles like a 85 SR5 4runner would be.
Clean it up and enjoy it. That's how you will get the most value out of it. If you put an old school campershell or Wildernest on it, you would have a heck of camping rig.

The value is also going to be highly dictated by the quality of the work that has been done to it. Frame stretching is no easy task and if done improperly can kill you and others.

I think its going to be very difficult for us to put a price on it since we never see them. Austin nailed it by letting the market say what its worth. But heck, if you like it, drive it and use it!

i'd say they're not that rare, perhaps because i'm in CA. i see a handful on the roads and perhaps 1-2 for sale every year. I'd say they are only slightly more value than an xcab pickup when in good condition. problem is all the ones i see for sale are fairly beat up and this skews the value considerably.

X2 on listing on eBay. Have a stupid high reserve and just let the bids fly. Use that to find a selling point. Those trucks are rare and unique.. But does that translate to valuable? That's for eBay to decide.

for future reference, you can use eBay "completed listings" search to find out what items have sold for in the past. unfortunately, i tried it for custom cab/mega cab toyotas and came up empty.

Any pics of the inside of the cab? There is a blue one like that here in town.

Nearly identical to mine! Cool. Mine, however, is an 86 and has 26k on the rebuild.

Like any other car/truck, value will be determined by the shape of it. Yes the Custom Cab is rare, but of it's not in good condition it's will be worth like any other truck.

I had the 1st and only Custom Cab in Hawaii back in 2004. It's came from Alaska. The truck was at my friends junkyard. Being the Toyota junky I am, I made a deal with him long story short I fixed it's up and sold it's before moving to WA. My truck also had the 22RET. Much more valuable. I changed the front Turbo buckets to a 60\40 bench seat from a Tacoma.

I redid the interior after taking the picture of the seats. I rhinolined the floor and put matching tan door panels. I sold the truck for $6000. That came with a rebuilt 22RET, new cat back Flomaster exhaust, new rims and tires, new brakes, and more things I can't think of.
