1985 pickup std. cab leaking water in cab

I have a 1985 Toyota pickup standard cab and we have recently experienced a heavy rain, the next morning I came out and my passenger side carpet was soaking wet. I let it dry and when the next rain came around the same thing happened. I have a new windshield therefore a new windshield seal and was wondering what other suggestions you all had.
Thanks,
Alyx

It is possible that the new seal is not sealing completely and letting water in.

Another possibility is that the opening of the windshield (where the windshield meets the cab) rusted through in one spot and the new seal isn't sealing up the rust hole.

Took me forever...

I had this same problem. I will try and explain this the best I can since I have no pics. While looking at the hood hinges follow the corner of the engine compartment next to the hinge down till it hits the top of wheel well. If its cracked thats where your water is getting in.

Could be either one of these but I would put money on it being a rusted out area in the seal surface. .pretty common source/area..

I have the same issue. It was coming in through the seals in the wiper cowl area on both sides. But ultimately my issue now is that I do not have the proper windshield seal, rather black sealant sealing it up from the PO. And its definitely leaking through there. I even verified it yesterday in the down pour we were having.

My 85 pickup does the same thing. I would pull the glass and make sure the frame is sealed up well. I would suggest pulling the cowl in front of the windshield and make sure there isn't any trash holding in water as well. The water enters in thru the vents in the cowl and should run to the edges of the cowl and down to the rear part of the fenders. Debris can build up and make water pass else where. You can loosen the rear part of the inner fender and see if there is debris there as well.

Have the same problem on mine.

The previous owner must have never checked or cared enough to do anything about it. Now the foot wells on both sides are rusted to the point of crumbling.

So fun to see the road while you are driving. Reminds me of my grandathers Datsun.

Definitely address the problem before you have a major issue.
