Weber Carb

I am looking at installing a weber carb kit and wanted to find out if there is anything I need to know. What is the differance in the 34 and the 32/36? Do I need to run an electric fuel pump? Do I just plug all the vac. lines that are currently running to the carb?

I currently have the 34 on my rig. the only vac line I have is the one running from the distribuator. Ive had to use a heavy duty throttle return spring, and a electric fuel pump cause those carbs require a certain psi for fuel

I just ordered a 32/36 and I am hoping I get it by the weekend. What PSI pump do I need? DO I need a regulator? Is there anything else I will need to know. I have read about the adapter leaking problems, any ideas on how to prevent this?

did you order that carb off ebay from the place in yakima? Let me know how that goes, i was thinking of doing the same. You still goin to Wazzu?

well depends where ya got it..... I orderd from weber direct in NY so it took longer but they have new adapters the one piece instead of the 2 pieces so no leaks. the psi um probly any fuel pump will do but I think im not sure is like 14 psi or something.

If you got the ebay 32/36carb, I have been told through PM that it will need a stronger return spring and the adapter is about $40.
I too will probably go this route sometime soon..

I got it from Weber Carbs Direct, they had the kit on ebay for 279 shipped. I have also heared that a stronger spring is required. I will let you guys know how it goes.

I have the 36dgev and I found that you just have to adjust the nut on the throttle so the spring will bring it back fully. I have the stock mech pump and it works fine. The stock pump flows more than required.

Did any of you remove your emissions crap? Any part of it that I want to keep?

I have it on good authority from the local Toyota expert that the Webers are hard to tune and run like crap in humid weather. He strongly recommends against them. Anyone else with opinions??? I thought about getting one as well, but he says to go with factory EFI-it bolts right on and better performance for the same $$$$.

I know of several people here localy that are running the webers and have no problems. They did warn me that it could take up to a year to tune mine. It is not too humid here though. The EFI is far more in depth than I want with my 82

+1... I got the 34/34 from weber carbs direct. It is running great. The only issue i am having is i cant get the fast idle to work properly. I got the elec. choke and i am not sure if it is working properly. I am gonna rig up a manual choke instead of that e/c. I totaly ripped out of the vacum lines and all of that crap...you don't need any of it, except the vacum advance. And yes it has been about 2 months since my install and i still am tuning it in. Let me know if you have any tricks about these. Also, not sure if this is true, but someone told me that the 34/34 is actually a Solex?!?! Have you ever heard that? But for $250 w/ free shipping that is a crap ton cheaper than adding EFI to my 81.

yulp same setup. 34/34 same place. tho the guy that tuned mine said that the throttle rod had a vaccum leak.

fuel psi is 2.5-3.5. i am running the dist vaccs and evap. but no smog crap. also if you got the ele. choke you might want to look into a rejet kit based on your elevation.

When I was researching the 34/34, I did see that it was a Solex. That is why I went with the 32/36.

That is were I got mine from. It came yesturday, hopfuly I get a nice weekend to install it. Mine came with the 2 piece adapter

hey guys im about to get the 32/36 too but i was wondering if anyone has the synchronous 38/38. how much more power/less mpg does it get on your 22R?

Carberators do not run the same day after day, year after year. When it becomes summer time and the temps stay hot, you will need to make minor adjustments. When it becomes winter again, you will want to adjust the cold idle slightly and tune the air fuel mixture. No big deal. And as far as converting to EFI, sure, it's the best way to go, but as far as cost, if you can afford an arm AND a leg. I prefer simplicity, not an ECU, injectors, smog equipment, special tools, etc... 36dgev, electric choke, that's how I roll.

do any of yall use your webers on your daily drivers?
my truck doesnt need smog testing but im worried about passing the safety inspection with out the stock carb and emission hook ups that are gonna go bye-bye with the weber.
