Hey guys I can not seem to find what I need


I have a 83 4x4 pickup 5 speed manual


Does anyone have the part numbers for the rear ujoints the one at the rear end and the one at the tcase


also what about the front ones the ones at the tcase and the one at the front diff

I don't know if you can get that double cardon (or whatever it's called) at the transfer case by itself. That's the part with two u-joints very close together. But I just tell the parts store people the truck year and everything and they look up the parts they have. You can do that online with Rock Auto and Napa, too.

I don't exactly know the part numbers, but I will tell you this... The two on the rear drive shaft and the one on the differential end of the front drive shaft are all the same part number. The two on the double cardan in the front drive shaft are a different part number. I would suggest getting u-joints with the grease zerk on the end caps instead of on the body of the u-joint - much easier to access when greasing. ALSO if you plan on replacing the u-joints in the double cardan, I would highly suggest getting a new self centering pivot bearing inside the double cardan as well. The chances of you removing those u-joints without destroying that bearing or loosing a bunch of the needle bearings are slim to none. I'm not sure about other manufactures, but I know Moog makes that bearing. If you plan on doing this yourself, I would drop those u-joints in a bucket of WD-40 for a few days so that they are a bit easier to press out. The end joints are easy to do with a vise, but the Double Cardan is a real PITA! You're going to need access to a press to get those on and off.

My Toyota is the reason I now have a shop press! Not for the u-joints though in hindsight I should have used it for those (broke my vise). But for those rear wheel bearings and seals. I love it when buying a new tool is much less expensive than paying a shop to do something.
