Hmmm... I have that the LN40 is:
Truck 2WD 2.2L Diesel 81-83
Long Box Chassis Code: LN40
Engine Code: L

I don't have an LN41 listed, though... where did you find that code?

On the model number or Vin depends which way you look at it in 1979, are the last few numbers the actual build number? Like RN47-000001 would be number one?

I think that would be right, the lower the number the earlier the build and 000001 would be the first produced for that year in that chassis code.

Just added another commercial for the 1982 Truck to the archive... that is like the seventh commercial for 1982 alone, and fourteen commercials for the 2nd generation.

I don't think that there were any Trekker commercials because it was such a low-volume vehicle, but I can't say that with any certainty.

On a side note, I don't include the Trekker on my site because it was just a truck chassis (which is on my site) that was converted by Winnebago. If I include the Trekker then why am I not including motorhomes with Toyota truck chassis, U-Haul trucks, etc...

Where do i find my color code on my 1983 (RN48) SR5 4X4?
It is a dark blue.

On a rig of that vintage it's probably on a metal plate in the engine compartment (firewall or inner fender) but it COULD be on a label in the driver's door jamb. Look for the first three characters after Color/Trim or C/TR.

Found it on the tag in the center of the firewall.

Perfect! My chart is accurate! Looks like that color was only available on the 1983 Truck, then the 1985-1987 Truck and 1984-1986 4Runner.

I have some "stats" for that info. I'm sure you would be interested in ... I have been trying to get it up on the net for a long time .
I have the monthly production #'s for most Toyotas imported into North America .. monthly #'s from ~ 67 - 79 .
I also have the info. for dissecting the model #'s .. just like the serial #'s
