One word RUST. Check the frame especially, but the bed of these trucks are known to rust around the seems. Other than that imho the more original the truck is the better, I spent alot of time cruising junkyards and ebay to find small pieces emblems, trim etc. 165k is nothing to worry about. If you get post up some pics!!

I have a 82 4x4 truck and it has a 5 speed. It is rough with rust in the bed but seems to drive and run good. This is the first toyota I have owned and it had 121000 miles on it when it was given to me and all I had to do was pull it home. It took me about two weeks to get it running with only minor repairs and its still running. I guess I'm lucky?

I forgot to say parts are hard to find since only 82 or 83 trucks are alike. If bed is real bad you will have a hard time finding another.

Banshee, as in mountain bike extraordinaire? Damn, it's crazy when I think about how much my bikes cost, and what I could have in place of them. For instance, I could have my 4runner be locked, lifted, and generally gnarly, but I'd prefer to ride the bike. It's too bad about the shoulder though...

Truck looks pretty good, I could be wrong but it looks like an Sr5 due to the woodtrim on the dash and that it has a tachometer. One plus is that still has door panels which are hard as hell to find! Look on 4wd parts website and I beleive that exact truck color/graphics combo is pictured in the toyota suspension section for early minis.
