front end rebuilding questions

I have a 82 4x4 and the front end needs rebuilding badly. Last time i drove the truck i was wheeling and i got stuck(for the first time) and i noticed that the front tire you could move it up and down, and i think side to side but i cannot remember. Also when in 4x4 when you turn the wheel it pops. What i was wondering what do i need to do to fix this? and what should i need to save up?

Save up and buy a Front knuckle kit w/ wheel bearings online from MC, tg, ect.. it is much cheaper and saves you the hassle of trying to find all the bearings and gaskets from parts stores. Looking @ around $150 im guessing
