EACV Help

Howdy All - I'm going through a smog checklist in an attempt to get my 83 4x4 pickup on the road again.

I can not get the EACV to operate like i think it should. In essense it seems like a pretty simple device -->air comes from the smog pump and goes out one of two ways. 1 - to the exhaust manifold, 2 - to the air intake. Problem is I can't seem to get mine to switch to the exhaust manifold even when i apply current directly to it!

I have been looking everywhere for a replacement EACV but nobody sells them! Even at the junkyards they seem to go before anything else. So 3 questions:

1. What are the proper test procedures for the EACV
2. Where can i get a new one?
3. Will something from another vehicle work? If so which vehicle.

Thanks!

I would say look at the FSM. It might show the procedure for testing it.

It's not made anymore.

Here's a list of the different vehicles that use that same part number according to Toyota Parts Zone.

Thanks for the info
- I have the 85FSM which doesn't have the EACV test procedures, will hunt for an 84
- not "new" new, but remanufactured (maybe napa?) new
- I have the list, was thinking if there is a odd ford or Chevy part that some how by a miracle would work....I'm guessing not at this point.

I would say take the part number and call them or go down and see if they can cross-reference the number to something available.

I would say no as well. Since this is a Aisin part, I can't say for sure how many USA made vehicles were using Japanese components of the early 80s at the same time.
