Yea more info needed. Do you mean the engine is 'dieseling' or continuing to run after you shut it down?
Float set too high would cause over-rich mixture which could be a contributing factor. There is also a solenoid that shunts the flow of fuel from the pump without ignition power-if it's not getting voltage that might be your issue. You need a vacuum gauge at the very least and a tach gauge (good to have) to set your mix correctly. You can do a plug chop to see where your mix is-drive under load around 4k rpm's then kill the ignition and stop and look at the inner most part of your plug's insulators-dark and oily looking=too rich. They should be a brownish color and mostly dry. Why were you adjusting the carb-did you clean it? What have you recently done.
