83 22r low rpm stumble/misfire/surge/cutout/i don't know

I need help. i just picked up this nice 83 4x4 sr5. All the emissions stuff has been removed. There are only a few vac lines still in place. The truck runs great almost all the way through the rpm range.

Here is my prob/question. Right around 1100 rpms to about 1400 rpms while under really slight throttle, typically in second gear but sometimes in any gear the truck will stumble almost like it is being turned off or fuel is being cut for a split second. I immediately suspected the fuel cutoff soleniod. I really wish i could say that is the prob but i tested it, and it seemed to be working correctly. I still suspected it to be the cutoff valve so i removed and pluged the port. It still has the intermitent issue. I then traced a bunch of wires replace some grounds, still having the prob. I have checked rechecked then checked again all the vac lines. i am out of ideas i reall need help. the only other issue is poor fuel milage. it is wierd because it only happens at low rpms and low throttle like putting around in 4low or sitting in traffic.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I had a similar problem on my '83 22R and needed to adjust the idle mixture and idle speed screws. I didn't have a tachometer but rather set the idle mixture screw to factory (4 turns from fully closed), then adjusted idle speed until it didn't stutter.

Follow the guide on this website: http://www.bluebassdesign.com/boonin/carb_faq/

Of course, I did all this after rebuilding my carburetor. But I think it was the idle screws that finally fixed the problem, should have tried them first.

Thank you for the advice. The problem ended up being a combo of timing adjustment and idle adjustment. before i was adjusting each setting individually. when i finally got the timing light i adjusted the carb and timing at the same time and that really helped. the truck is running great now.
