40$ mystery 5 speed transmission, help identify!

So I picked up a 5-speed transmission for 40$, supposedly from an 1980 pickup, but I don't think they had 5 speeds in 1980 right? Anyway, it is roughly 20.8'' long, so it has to be a 81-83 transmission. But I removed the nose cone and the part number on the input shaft bearing outer race is hr6307nx and is 80mm big, like a L52. After a quick google search the part number hr6307n (without the x) is for a w55/56/58 transmission, the part number for the input shaft bearing of an l52 is B32-14UR, 32BC08S1N, so I'm really confused.

On this website: http://transpartswarehouse.com/index...1978-1991.html

it says:
''IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! If your transmission has ever had the input shaft replaced from the factory for any reason, there may be HR6307NX on the outer race of the bearing and 35TM11 on the inner race. This setup has an inner race that is thicker than the outer race. If you have this setup you will need a different kit.''

Mine does say hr6307nx on the outer race, but it says hr6307 UR on the inner race...can anybody clarify this for me? I'd like to know what transmission it is to order a rebuild kit.

Thanks!

How about a picture?
Did you compare the case to the pics on marlin's page?

Yes, it is different looking from a w56. I can post a pic if you want but it is identical to a l45/l50/l52 in looks and length.

Edit: I'm starting to think it is an l52 that has been upgraded with a bigger input bearing (80x21mm hr6307nx instead of 80x20 l52), is that common or even possible?

Isn't that what Marlin does for their "HD" L52?

highly doubt it's a marlin l52hd, since the company is barely known around here, and it is full of orange silicon. Here is a quote from marlin himself:

''I invented the L52 HD, because even with the larger open face L52 input bearing [80 mm x 20 mm wide], I was still seeing bearing failures.
Many years back, I quit rebuilding the wimpy L50 trans with the 75 mm x 20 mm input bearing because it had a poor service record.
I would bore the case and nosecone so the 80 mm L52 bearing would fit.

Then I begin to notice that the 4/85 and newer G52/54 trans with the sealed 80mm x 23mm input bearing never went bad.
However, not only was the bearing wider, but also has an extended shoulder in front of the snap ring groove.
Also the input and countershaft counstant run gears have a greater helix angle that increases the strength but would require the complete gear set from a newer G trans.
[The reverse gear set is a stronger design as well.]

I also braze and mill both 1/2, 3/4 forks along with thoroughly cleaning and blueprinting each trans I build.''

So I don't have a g54 80x23mm bearing, I guess mine is an upgrade made at some point since even the l52 were known to be arguably weak at the bearings.

Yep, but what puzzles me is that main input shaft bearing, and possible other mods.
