Rear differential Swap? Step by step?

My rear diff sounds like its about to go, the pinion seal and bearing are shot and i think i waited way to long to fix them. The rear end whines so loud, im surprised it hasn't locked up yet. Yes i check the oil and keep it to the level it should be at.

I was wondering how hard it would be to get a complete diff and swap it back into my truck. Is it really that much work? Anyone have a step by step guide.?

I have a 1990 xtracab 3.0 5 speed, i think the gear ratio is 4:10 but id like to hear it from a couple more people to be sure.

Thanks

You have a 8" v6 3rd member, any 8" non-trd member will bolt in place.

Disconnect rear brakes at wheel cylinder and ebrake cable, pull out both rear axles (4 nuts where axle flange meets rear hub), disconnect driveline, unbolt third member, pull out.

Also searching the site and others can yield the answer most of the time.

you're in the for sale section. try posting and searching in the main forum.

anyway, it's easy. just find another third from another truck or runner and bolt it in. depending on what size tires you're running you may want to try another ration as well such as 4.56s which go well with 31 inch tires.
