4.56 R&P used for 8" rear 7.5" RC IFS

Up for sale are the gears from my last gear swap, about 30k on them maybe more but they look great and have not been abused as I'm not a hardcore wheeler . Fits many models that have a 8" V6 Rear and 7.5" reverse cut IFS front. Makes a great move from stock gears! Perfect Christmas gift for that special someone.

Located in Orlando, but can be taken to S. FL as well.
Price: $250 Shipped Cont. US.

The non-elocker Tacoma rears are 8.4" not the same as the mini truck 8" rears just to let you know. These gears only fit the 96 and up trucks. Just thought I would bring that to your attention.

Thanks James, These are from a 4Runner and it should have been mentioned, it will fit the e-locker 4Runner from what I understand. And yes 96 up Tacoma and 4Runner, not sure what you have post a pic I'll tell you. The 8.4 and 8 are very different and share no similarity in profile.

So these rear gears did come out of a E-Locker rear is what you are saying, right? But the front are from the IFS of a 96 and up Taco/Runner, right?

No but the 8" e-locker housing will fit my 8" ring gear. These are not out of a e-locker at all but an open rear diff. And yes the front is exactly as described. 7.5 revers cut (important) IFS 96+. (pre 96 were still 7.5 just not revers cut, thats why I mentioned it).

When did they put 8" rears in 96 and newer trucks that did not have the E-locker? I thought they were all 8.4".

Good question, the Tacoma was offered with a 8.4 in the non e-locker fashion like you mention. The 4Runner never got the beefy 8.4 (which was good as after market support is less for the 8.4 than the 8). If memory serves me all e-locked vehicles both Tacoma and 4Runner ran 8 as did the standard 4Runner. I researched the hell out of this a while back because we had a rough time sourcing tractions options for our 02 Tacoma non E-lock.

So you are saying all the 96-02 4Runners used the 8" diff not the 8.4" diff?? I thought all of them were 8.4". I never knew this, heck you learn something new every day!

Perhaps I have clouded this a bit, the old 8" had a 7.8" ring gear the V6 housing using a 8" ring gear (thus dubbed 8") when in fact I have no idea how big it is. The 8.4 never came in a 4runner that I'm aware of.

LOL nah, not you! This banter back and forth was a good read nonetheless. Here's a question - Who's on first?

Seriously though, Aaron's correct. 3rd gen 4Runners came with 8" rears. 4Runners did not get 8.4" rears. Heck, even my '86 4Runner had a 8" rear.
