I recently bought my 1986 SR5 Turbo Extended Cab 4x4 with 92,000 original miles. No rust. I feel like it was a bargain at $5700 considering it's entirely original and looks immaculate. I would think between 6-7k. The right party will step up and pay for something really nice. The quality of your paint job is another factor. It looks nice in the photos, but the photos only show so much. Good luck. Nice truck.

7500.00 No Less, It makes me sick to see beautiful toyotas loosing value, they should be going up in value due to demands.

Yeah, I am going to have to agree with Ryan. That's at least a $7500 truck. The more I look around...the better your truck looks. Your truck, however, is completely rebuilt. These 2nd generation trucks are in high demand. Good ones are hard to find. Good luck.

Like to see the seats.
I'd say $7K if you want to sit on it a little while, 6K if you want local people interested soon, and if you want to sell it right now 5K. Bump for a nice truck. Mine is similar but its a DX. If you really decide to sell it look me up I am considering a 3rd vehicle.

I appreciate the input and compliments on the truck. If I sell it I'm going to try to get 8k for it.
I'll try to get some more pictures of the interior. The rebuilt engine now has 1,000 miles on it and i have put my foot into it a few times - runs great. I purchased a 2008 Tacoma prerunner access cab in oct 07 and ever since I got this truck running my tacoma has been sitting LOL. The only problem this truck has is the bushings on the idler arm are worn. easy fix I forgot how much I liked this truck over the two years it was parked . . . Probably didn't want to think about it |

Good luck getting 8k. Thats pretty expensive, you can get a tacoma with a 3.4 v6 possibly super charged for around 8k.

On the other hand the economy sucks and not many people have that much money to spend on a toy. Anyway, the key word was "Try." to get 8k. I saw a couple 4runners sell for over 10k on ebay last year ??? so you just never know. I need a new family car so I would be open to trades. I would like to get a Rav 4 for my wife and kids to use as a daily driver (or something like that that gets decent gas mileage) What do you guys think about putting it on ebay - worthwhile or a waste of money? Thanks again for all the input, your feedback really helps. |

I don't think there's anything wrong with putting the vehicle on Ebay. I had a 1985 4x4 Xtra Cab (granted it's the holy grail of Toyota 4x4s) with EFI and 19,000 original miles. It fetched a very good price. I hated to get rid of it, but I was tired of just looking at a vehicle sit in our warehouse and never move. Now it's being enjoyed by a person in California.
True, the market is much quieter than it was 8 months ago, but there are people out there that absolutely love these Toyotas and have extra cash. You hear the negative from the media, but there are plenty of people making good money that seem to never get enough of these trucks. Host plenty of pictures and take your time writing up the ad. A good ad may take a few hours to write. In the end, the better the ad...the higher the price. Take good photos with a creative background. You won't get close to your price if you don't take the extra time to write the ad, provide detailed photos, etc, etc. Note your receipts and be very detailed. Start the price at a low figure with your reserve in place. If you don't sell it, you will only be out your insertion fee and whatever bells and whistles you selected. While I am not a huge fan of Ebay, it does provide your best opportunity to get the highest dollar figure for this type of vehicle. Rust free/original examples are becoming more and more scarce. Too bad you don't have the OEM style stripes on your truck. Those seem to really attract the Toyota freaks like myself. Just FYI, reproduction decal kits are available, but I am sure you don't want to put more money into the truck. ![]() People that are looking for original Toyota 2nd generation trucks don't care how much they can buy Tacoma trucks for. If it the truck was my daily driver, I'd compare the two and the Tacoma would be the obvious choice. However, my 2nd gens are not my daily drivers. I paid $6000 for my 1988 and $5700 for my 1986. I'm a Toyota junkie and there are more addicts out there. Good luck with your sale.

lotta people make a big mistake about how much a vehicle is worth vs how much they have put into it, you can't claim that because you spent x amount MAINTAINING a vehicle you can take that on, hell even some mods don't add value, really the only thing that truly adds value is the vehicle getting older with fewer and fewer miles or a low production number, really low.. low mileage stuff is worth more than maintained high mileage stuff with mods. regardless of how much you have in it. A vehicle is truly only worth what someone will pay.

Well yeah. NADA and KBB are both just estimates, and really one should take a long hard look at their vehicle, and be objective as they can when deciding the price, but who does that? I know of plenty of people up in the Northwest who buy and sell vehicles, making a profit from one coat of cheap paint.

Are you going to buy it? if you do please let us know how it works out I do not want to sell this truck but need some cash and I'm really dividied about it. I have had this truck since 93 and it's my baby. The reason I asked about what my truck was worth is because KBB is pretty irrelevant to a truck this old and in this shape. Old yota fans are a small niche that KBB ignores. The market is tough to gauge and I have seen some of these older trucks fetch a nice price. Bottom line is I am just trying to get some feedback, not rip anybody off. A few years back I sold a regular from this board a pretty clean 87 4runner with complete body, complete interior with power package and factory sunroof, and clean title (sans engine tranny) for around 800 dollars . . . I'm a pretty fair guy thanks again |

Oh I completely agree. The insurance company dealing with my rig has it listed at $2,500, even with $12,000 invested into it. Basically, wait for the right buyer, he'll appreciate your truck for the price you have it set at.
I'm not sure about it, I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow or saturday. Either way, I'll let you know how it works out. I talked to the fellow about the engine, it's got 145K on it, with 5K on a rebuild on the engine and the turbo, says the interior is super clean, and the exterior as well.
