My newest/oldest equipment acquisition

Here is the newest piece of equipment I picked up for my many projects that I constantly have on the go or planned for the future..

Now I know what you are going to say - "What is it?" and "Why did you get that?"

Well it is an old Forney 220 Arc welder/ Battery charger/ Soldering unit. I didn't get the soldering wand or the charging cables (must have got lost in the past 50+ years)

Some Specs..
Model: Forney C5
3/16" @ 30amps to 3/8" @ 120 amps
Operating Voltage 230
Range 20 - 180 amp
Rated Duty Cycle 20%
Rod Sizes 1/16" - 3/16"

6v/12v Battery Charging

Now for the reason for purchasing it - It works like new and was $50
It came with the welding cables, 2 brand new pairs of welding gloves, helmet, a 1944 Ammo box to keep all the stuff in and about 20lbs of assorted rod.

Sorry for the crappy picture - the light is poor in my barn!

Only real drawbacks to it are the plug and play selectability and the 175lb weight of the unit - thank god for the wheels...
Now I cannot wait to wire in my 220 plug and get busy...

What do you all think?
