craftsman tools

I have alot of craftsman tools and it seems like the newer tools brake real easy.
The other day i was using my 2 foot braker bar to turn over my motor in my bronco and the spring and pin fell out and the thing goes to pieces. I wasnt even putting alot of pressure on it of course i cant find my receipt. I am going to buy a new one then take the old one back with my new receipt i hate doing it
but i havent hardly even used it and it hasnt been abused i just cant see me having to eat a 30.00 tool because i cant find the receipt.

You don't need a receipt to swap out a Craftsman hand tool...I never have. I just take in the pieces and last time only the big half of the 15/16" wrench.

There hand tools are guaranteed forever. I have had that same problem with one of there breaker bars. Went to sears and came back with a new one, no questions asked. I even know people that will go to flee markets or used tool stores and buy used craftsman tools for cheap. Then they break them so they can get a new wrench, screw driver, ratchet, ect. that is new and the latest design.

same thing happened to the retaining ball bearing on my nut cracker, took it back with the receipt (just bought it hours before) they didnt even ask for the receipt, just grabbed one off the shelf and i walked out.

now with bent screwdrivers, ive had some flack for them not taking them back. so i usually put them in the vise and really do some damage to make sure they will replace them. that was only twice though, and that sales rep. no longer works there, so it might have been more of a personal thing than a company policy.

besides that, i have never had a problem returning tools to sears. thats why i buy craftsman.

People always give craftsman a bad wrap. I have had good luck with craftsman as well as Sears' policies, but have broken numerous hand tools.

I don't see why you wouldn't buy craftsman tools that their guarantee applies to. They don't care about anything with regard to hand tools breaking.

Only reason why not to buy them is if the closest craftsman dealer is a good drive, and you are pretty hard on tools. Or you get something better for less money.

Good then i dont need the receipt i will return a few other items. I like there tools i havent had many break but i have had a few fall apart.

Instead of a tool being replaced when it doesn break I prefer tools that don't break so easily which Craftmans do which is why they have to honor the guarantee instead of making better tools.

I've broke my share of every companies tools over the years, Craftsman included. They have come up with a few poor designs over the years, but so has everyone else ( I really hate there lever ratchets). At least when you break a Craftsman you don't have to wait for a week or two for the tool truck guy to come around again. No receipt needed to exchange.

I use craftsman and kobalt at work (diesel mechanic) and I have no problem with them. I've broken my share of them but I'm hard on tools and usually have a backup. Some tools that you take back to craftsman don't even need to be broken, I hit a yard sale and got a bunch of craftsman stuff like a pipe wrench, lady finger, breaker bar, wrenches, you get the idea. The pipe wrench was rusted in a couple spots and a few teeth were deformed so I took them to sears in the box I bought em in and they just got me the stuff to replace.

i was useing a craftsmen socket once it cracked down the side all i did was take it into the store they went and grabbed a new one and sent me on my way

I have only broken one ratcheting wrench and I took it in there but they don't sell those individually so the guy took my name and address and they mailed me a new one within a few days.

I love my craftsmen tools. Even if they break, which I dont do a LOT of (my fair share though) then all ya gotta do is take them back and call it a day.

Sorry i missspeled or should i say misused a word. I like to see people like you on forums because you would NEVER talk that mess in my face. These forums are becoming more and more polluted with punks and search and spelling nazis. If you cant add to the thread just move on not everyone is perfect like you .

I have had good luck w/ craftsman, that's all that I use. I have only broke screw drivers and needle nose pliers that I kinda used for prying. They replaced them with no questions asked. My dad gave me some really old locking pliers with the spring for the release missing. I took them in, and because they did not have any in stock they just gave me a three pack of Vise Grip locking pliers (a $35 value)!

in the same vein, why don't you spend the 15 minutes it takes to find out why the word was used incorrectly, and then use it correctly in the future? that way you please the "spelling nazis", and you'll find you'll be able to communicate easier when people don't have to guess at what you're saying.

language is pretty important, and you either use it properly or you don't. there's not much grey area when it comes to that.

edit: to not turn it into a pissing match and to keep on topic, i've had good luck with craftsman stuff. i've never had to return anything, though, but from what i hear it's easy. you shouldn't have trouble with that breaker bar, it's not like using it for what it's made for could be classed as "abuse", eh?

I know what you mean i guess the world will come to an end because of all the misspelled words on the internet. I really didnt understand how important it was to make sure my spelling was correct so i wouldnt offend or endanger the human
race. I sure am glad you pointed me in the right direction i hope i dont make any more mistakes and destroy the earth. Mods please make this a sticky so no one else will make the mistake and misspell any words or mis use them. Thanks
