Toytec lifts 2" lift kit for 85 -94

I felt compelled to write and share my Toytec lift experience with the forum. First, when ordering this lift I had a few questions about the kit. I wanted to know if the kit would level out my pickup. My leaf springs in were sagging and I wasnt sure if I needed an inch more lift in the back to fix this. Second, I didnt want too much lift, only enough to beef it up a bit and be able to fit my new 32 x 10.50 SuperSwamper TSL's. I alson needed to change the rear shocks but not the front. The sales person at Toytec was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and told me the lift would level out the truck and everything would fit.
I received the lift via UPS with in a week and I was ready to rock. The leaf inserts, front spacers and bolts were all well machined and the instructions were straight forward.
I set up shop and began to get to work. At the onset I had a few problems with freeing the U bolts which were rusted to #^%$*@^@. When everything came apart I installed the rear leafs and the front spacers (a little cutting is required) and torqued to specs. The kit was very user friendly and very easy to install. The whole job took an afternoon and would have been cut in half by 3 hours if I had an impact gun. I was so impressed with the lift and the easy of installation I called Toytech to thank them.
If you want a minor but great looking and easy to install lift I would HIGHLY recommend this kit. After install it is mandatory you get an allingment.
My pickup is in a paint process as of late and I will post a few before and after pics in the future.

I ve read that if a BJ spacer is 1.5 inches or more it will cause future problems to the front suspension? How is your toytec lift handling? I checked out their website it seems like a good kit.

This lift kit lifts your vehicle nicely 2" or so and gives you just enough lift to put on some larger meats. Put one on a friend's 1st gen 4Runner and it looked smoking...but no pics.

i am thinking that i would like to get this kit.... the only reservation i have is the stress on ifs components.. however, my truck is a streetqueen/mud digger, so i don't think it will be that big of a problem...

i wonder if combined with a 3" Body Lift, this will allow for 35x12.5's???

35s will be fine onroad, but without regearing, your truck will be a SLUG! 35s will put more stress on your components than the lift will.

oh, yes, i am aware that regearing will be needed, however, i want to deal with that after i have the money for tires! and rims! and the lift!

what components would the tires stress the most?

would it be wise to get a beefed up torsion bar (by downey etc..) ?

Seriously, all of it, add in the steering components too. 35s are mongo huge on the old IFS Toyotas. Sure it is doable, but I wouldn't do it to any of mine. If you are going for "cool", then do a moderate lift, add some aggressive 33s and nice rims, clean up the rig with some spit and polish, add some crawling armor and some tunes and call it good.

(PS I don't sell IFS gears anyway. )

Damn! I haven't read this thread in a while.
Here are some pictures of the lift.

this is the stock height

BJ off and ready for the 2" spacer

Toytec spacer in and torqued down to spec.

Rear leafs with the 2" add a leaf

Rear leaf in with new Pro Comp shock.

after install

with new Rock Crawler rims and SS 32 TSL's

and as she sits today (in the process of a SOLID AXLE SWAP)

I wheeled this setup for over a year and although it looks "cool" it does not perform quite the way I had hoped. IMHO it is a cosmetic setup. Sure it keeps little falling rocks from dinging your axle's but crawling over rocks and super rough roads it leaves little to be desired. I am still working my chops but I can tell you this set up not for serious offroading.
After one hunting season and a quite a few wheeling trips I replaced most of my IFS rather quickly. I can't say for certain this lift added to the short life of my IFS but I am just sayin. Feel free to browse over this thread http://www.yotatech.com/f116/cv-ball...ctures-158106/

I can't wait until the day comes when I put down my wrench and roll my SAS'ed rig out of the driveway and head off into the great unknown
