Q-Industries MV50 compressor SUCKS

My brother and I both bought these because we read favorable reviews here and pirate4x4, however one year later, both our hoses broke/leak and need replacing, however we cannot find replacements because they have some weird fitting. I was unable to find either a hose with that fitting or a new fitting that would fit the compressor. I'd have to drill+tap the hole to fit a new nipple, but fittings have tapered threads so I'm not even sure that would work.

My advice is get a compressor with standard fittings to make repair/replacement easy/possible.

I have 2 of these for an OBA set up and they've worked great for me. I drilled and tapped 1/4 NPT holes and they have worked fine.

I would buy these again for sure.

thats funny, i've had mine for 2 years now, and used it probably 50 times, and it still works great.

you say the compressor sucks. sounds like you had problems with the hose not the compressor. as nc994run said thats an easy fix. tap it with a 1/4 NPT.(npt= national pipe thread) tap and yes the fittings have tapered threads there called pipe threads. i love mine. it works good as some of the $$$ ones. it moves anuff air to reseat my 32x11.5 sx's and air it up fast. thats all i bought it for and it can do it great.

You could fix it with some basic mechanical knowledge. Like others said, the fitting can be made standard in a few minutes. I bought 3 of them a few years ago and gave one away. Each one is used frequently and still pumping strong.

This actually reminds me of a future thread: "pimp out my MV50".
