BF Goodrich KM2 Review
I have a set of 31x10.50 R15 BF Goodrich KM2's that i've had on my yellow 4Runner for some time now. I've put about 15,000 miles on them now, on and off road. It's time for a review!
My scale works like this,
= Poor for the terrain
= Not great but not horrible for the terrain
= Average for the terrain
= Fairly well for the terrain, good for the weekend warrior
= Exceptional for the terrain, a great choice
I recently got a chance to take these out on a few local (easy) trails by my house. These are the results that I had;
Trail
They performed awesome on the trails, all the traction I could ask for and then some! I give these a 5 out of 5.
Mud
Although I didn't get into much mud with these i did hit a few muddy patches and they seemed to perform decently well. The tread clears itself very well. They don't turn to slicks like some other tires do. I give them a 4 out of 5 because there are better mud tires out there.
Rock
To be honest, for a mud tire, the KM2 is awesome on the rocks, I didn't get a chance to do too much rock climbing but they seemed to take scrapes and bangs off rocks like a champion, for that it gets a 4 out of 5.
Snow N/A
I have not had these on during the winter months yet. Therefore no snow evaluation can be given.
Sand N/A
I haven't had a chance to try these out in the sand, therefore I cannot give a rating.
Street
These are a very reasonable set of tires on the street, not very loud and they have good wet traction and more importantly they don't try and rip the steering wheel out of your hands when you hit a puddle. I give them a 4 out of 5.

I have these tires in 35 x 12.50 and have used them in the snow and sand. I drove across the chesapeake bay bridge and up the eastern shore during last years big snow storm and they did great. I even drove into a 3' snow drift and they pulled me right out.
When I go down to Hatteras Island on the Outter Banks to drive on the beach I don't even air them down. They do pretty good. If you have ever been to Oregon Inlet and seen that sand its even worse and I still don't air down.

that's interesting.. I've never had a set of KM2's. I've had multiple sets of KM's in different sizes and I love them all. They kick the crap out of the sets of pro comps I've had, and held their own against my TSL SS and SX's. KM's are the best all-around tire I've ever owned. I've ran them in snow, mud, sand, dirt, rock (lots of lava rock/basalt) and never cut a single one, knock on wood. to me, KM2's have big shoes to fill so I want to know from people who have used both if they're worth "upgrading" to, or if it even is an upgrade

Sadly for me, my 305/70 KM2's are at 20,000 miles and completely bald. they were pretty much bald at 15,000 miles. But I dont blame the tires, I blame having an automatic 4runner with an automatic rear locker. It ate those tires so fast. I'm glad I saw this thread, Hopefully my tires will look like yours Swimmerboy when I get some new ones and get rid of that damn locker lol

I've personally never run the KM's but a buddy of mine has KM's on his Nissan Frontier and KM2's on his Suzuki Samurai and he loves the KM2's but hates the KM's.

I've been very pleased with my KM2s.
Your 4runner looks like something from the TV series "Baywatch"...cool yellow color.
I like the Tacoma rims with the KM2s.

Not much better here lol, I walked on my pool this morning.
Back on topic, I have 600 miles on my new KM2's now, and they still have the rubber nubs on the tread. With my old KM2's and the locker, the nubs didn't even last 3 miles. Looks like these tires are gonna last! Glad I stuck with the same tire.
For some reason these KM2's seem to be louder than I remember my old ones being. Not really a big deal, but just interesting.
