Chile Canyons 1-3-09
Saturday we met up with fellow Las Cruces 4WD Club members to run in the Chile Canyons. My sister’s boyfriend Phil from the UK tagged along for the ride. The trail leader decided on Patzcuarro’s Revenge/Rocatillo Rapids, Extreme rated trails, to my discontent. I managed a couple hundred yards before flatting. Following a quick change I managed a bit further before realizing I was over my head. After I watching the other trucks crawl through the boulder chutes pivoting with full body contact, I called it quits. A bit embarrassed I broke from the group and crept out of the canyon. We retired the rest of the day to running the foothills; nice and easy.

Looks like fun!
So did you end up swapping your axle shafts with the poly performance shafts? What about your front CV's? Are they holding up alright with the 35's? Also, are you running a 10" rim? Your tires look really wide for a 315/75 ??! What are you using up front suspension wise? You get decent stuff from your IFS.

Dona Ana Mountains Run: 1-31-09
Saturday the LC4WD Club met to pre-run trails that will be part of our annual Chile Challenge event. Departing as two groups; hard and extreme- I found myself with 3 Rubicons when the dust cleared. All “vehicle make grunting” aside, I’ve known most of these guys for years and enjoy the company. The Dona Ana Mountains are our sick little version of Moab. Many of the slopes are solid rock but feature a dusting of shale to the likings of crusher-fine. The climbs and descents place drivers in precarious off-camber situations that would allow a roll to continue for a quarter mile in many areas. Not so difficult are the obstacles than the loose traction and consequences for error.

The black-n-white photography gives excellent contrast in the desert-like setting, nicely done, you should post more!

Very cool idea putting into an online log like this...Great Pics!
Pretty nice truck too for an IFS truck ![]() Seriously like it, looked at the build thread, it has gone through some transitions, definitely like the current wheels over the FJ's..just remember a build is never done

Thanks for the kind words. Moab is quite a place; more than just wheeling to be enjoyed there.
With Cruise Moab, Rising Sun puts on quite an event. As the pics show- any level vehicle/driver will have a good time.

Gila Summer
![]() This past weekend I traveled into the Gila with Jones, my GSD. Over the past few months, using 50 year old FS Maps and Google Earth, I patched a long route from Mogollion to Reserve. The route covered over 200 miles of OPEN roads that traversed everything from fern carpeted forest to high desert plains. I’m always amazed at what I still have to discover here. The Gila provides thousands of miles of road by way of rugged and remote terrain. As help or assistance is rare in these parts, it’s advised to go well prepared. I drove over 200 miles without seeing anything but wildlife. ![]()

Your pics are always magazine quality.
What type of camera are you using right now?

Thanks Corey, I’m using my workhorse D-60. It’s enough camera perform in the wild and not be completely heartbroken I accidentally destroy it the process.

Thanks, very nice.
http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Ni...page?pid=25438 I have a nice Sony DSC-H9 Cybershot I bought a few years back that is 8 megapixels, but the pics are always kind of washed out and not vibrant. But I also shoot it on automatic settings all the time too. It is adjustable, but I do not know what I am doing if I try to change stuff.
