Chalk Creek, CO

Checking to see if anyone has been up to Chalk Creek canyon yet this year or late last season. Wondering if they pushed the boulders back into the trail on Iron Chest yet.

Anything else new in the valley?

We were up there over the Memorial day weekend and hit a few trails,
mostof which are still closed due to snow. Here is a pic of Iron chest...
Started up it and decided to not do it, pretty ruff and boulders are back!

Anything new?

Been a month, anything new from this area? Anyone...Anyone...Anyone......

Most of the trails up in that area are almost clear, just a few more weeks and all should be doable. We ran Pomory Lake and heard that Tin Cup and Hancock were still had just alittle snowed on them but almost ready.

Tincup is closed for quite a while more from what I hear. Someone who was up there last week said the top of the pass still had 6 feet of snow. I don't doubt it.

We were up there last weekend, one of the locals, I talked to, said that Tincup WAS open, Hancock had snow but still passable, Tomichi is still drifted in. I would think that he was correct 'cuz we didn't run into any snow below ~12,300' and Tincup is 12,154'

Maybe it is open now. Usually the snowmobilers run the top narrow shelf down where most of the remaining snow is.

I crossed Tin Cup last year the begining of August...and that shelf....STILL had snow. I should know, I dumped my bike over and that made for a chilly ride down the other side.

It's all open

Almost. Hancock was open on or before the 4th. Rougher than ever before also. Tomichi was snowed in. We drove all the way up to the big drift after the logs in the bog. A four wheeler went around in the tundra. I tried to encourage him to go through and if he got stuck we would pull him out. He didn't buy it and kept going. We ran around some new trails on our four wheelers the last day and did blaze through Tomichi. We went over Napolean Pass for the first time. While eating lunch in Tincup, a rider came in to tell us they watched a husband/wife bike team blaze through the pack on top of Tincup. By the time we left a few days later, four wheelers were going through.
