Bald Mountain - Shaver Lake, CA

Finally got all the maintenance done on my "new" runner and took her up to Bald Mountain this past weekend. There was too much snow for me to try to get to the real trail, especially going it alone...but we had a lot of fun messing around in the area. The weather was beautiful and the truck did really well.

Can't wait for the snow to melt off so we can tackle the real deal. If anyone in the area wants to go, hit me up!

I didn't even make it to the trail head...I was too sceerd all by myself. There were some built rigs comin down the mountain and they said they "couldn't" run the trail. I'm sure if you had the balls and a buddy you could have made it pretty far though. At least one good thing comes outta this crazy heat...snow melt!

rhill, those are some nice pics of the mountains. I haven't been up there camping since the early 90's. Typically we camped at Huntington lake. Makes me want to take my rig up there and wheel with you guys this summer.

Sounds like we should put a trip together

There are tons of spots to camp, or Dinkey Creek is a nice developed site. In a couple weeks the snow should be gone hopefully...then we should hit up Bald. I haven't been to Huntington much, only to ski China Peak. Dunno of any trails up there.

I decided to go to pismo instead....I think a few local clubs are gunna be up there, so you'll have plenty of company. here's some directions and a map.

Take pictures if you go and let us know how it is...I'm anxious to know what the snow looks like.

Looks beautiful up there, thanks for the pics. I love seeing your stock-looking runner with all those truggies We'll have to put a run together in the next couple of weeks. How was the view from the lookout?

im still surprised i was able to go on the same trail that every sa or sas went on lol
i think i was the only one with IFS haha and i didnt take the easy way up
1st time up there and the view is awesome. you can see all the lights of fresno at night to the left. alot of places to play around in to. where i took that picture of the truck on the rock was right before the watch tower and i wanna go back and play around some more

the blue runner was a 58 year old man with his girlfriend and another lady. very nice people and he showed me the way back down. i wouldnt have made it on my own lol. i over heard some other guys and he got the truck mostly built like that already for $4000. came with one 4.7 t case set up and the sas. he added the 1 inch body spacer, dual case, 37 inch MTR and thats all i know about it.

on the way down at night i did max out my inclinometer 30+ to one side and 30+ dipped all the way forward according to the GF
