I have a 86 runner with a chevy 4.3l swap from an 88 chevy. I haven't got into it yet but there is a relay under the drivers dash that is buzzing while the truck is off and key is out. Not constantly but off and on. It also has another relay right next to it. It is definatley custom wiring. I will see tomorrow if it is killing the battery because I charged it today. It was fine yesterday. Any help would be great

so my bro has a nissan ka24de engine in his 240sx. he is swapping in a sr20 very soon and so he will have the ka, pulling it out this weekend. i have the opportunity to have the ka if id like.

anyway i was thinking about possibly swapping the ka in place of my 3vz. i just rebuilt the 3vz but i absolutly dispise this engine. its heavy, packed in the truck, a pita to work on, cant rev over 4k (last time i did i blew camshaft seal), and i generally don't like it.

the ka has an extremely similar design as a 22re. it is a sohc 2.4l (incase some don't know). the exaust exits the same as the 3vz and 22re, the engine comparment layout is very similar as in the location the wires come through fire wall, the location of the coil, the location of the air intake. in short very very similar.

the ka already has headers, aftermarket air intake, and if i want there is a turbo kit available locally for $500. the ka needs rebuilt but thats nothing i cant handle. this engine also came in nissan hardbody trucks

i do know that i will need to make an adapter to fit it to my tranny (if anyone can guide me to an example to make an adapter??), i will need to cut and rewire the ka ecu into the truck for gauges and such, may or maynot need to modify oilpan to fit around front diff, need to make motor mounts.

so what do you guys think? should i go for it? what am i missing?

u will find me all over this forum trying to figure out what engine to swap in my truck but this one seems like a cheap way to go being that i have the engine and it is so similar to the 22re.

any help/opinions are appreciated? :banger:

I have been doing some research into putting this motor into my 4runner and I talked to a guy who is into drifting cars and this is a popular motor for this. We got to talking and I asked him about the oil pan and he told me that the pan can be reversed to make it rear sump you just need to mod the pickup tube I currently have no way to verify this I was hoping that someone might be doing this swap and check this out and reply. Any info regarding this and off camber oil starving the motor would be useful

Thanks in advance

1998 4.3 SPI with 4l60e swap.

I can find a lot of informations on 4.3 swaps using a 700r4 but very little if any on a 4.3/4l60e swap. I am in the process of doing one and could use some help.

Hears what I have:
1998 4.3l V6, SPI. 100% stock.
matching 4l60e, with toyota 23 spline output shaft.
toyota 23 spline transfere case with 4.7 gears.

I plan on useing the stock wiring harness, ecu and possibly fuse box.

The mechanical end of it is no problem. I can bolt, weld, pry and hammer to make it fit.

But I am having trouble finding information on the wiring end of it. The ecu has 4 plugs, 3 go to the motor/tranny and one goes to the cab. the 3 to the motor/tranny are pretty simple. for the most part they dont need to be modified.

I am having troule finding out what I need to hook up where on the cab side. is there anyone out there that can help? Has anyone else done this swap? did you make your own harness?

When it is all done I want it to work like it did in the S-10 it came out of. I want the tranny to lock up when it should and unlock automatically. I want the motor to go to high idle when it is cold and work as it should. I also prefer to wire it myself. I dont want to pay someone big money for a harness when I already have one, I just dont know how to hook it up.

I also have a few question about the sencers on the motor:

1. first off the water temp senser, I want to use a toyota one so the gauge on my dash will work. I assume I need the chevy one to talk to the ECU so I cannot just disconect the chevy one and replace it with the toyota one and then wire it to the instrument cluster. I will have to add the toyota one without removing the chevy one, right?

2. Same question for the oil pressure senser? the stock chevy one is a switch and a temp senser. It looks like the switch feeds the ecu so the fuel pump will not turn on unless there is oil pressure. I am going to hardwire my fuel pump so the ECU will not be turning it on and off. so I dont care if the ECU knows if I have oil pressure or not. does the oil pressure senser/switch do anything else to the ecu? If I desconnect the chevy one will the ECU go in trouble mode or anything?
