I just picked up a 1992 toyota 4runner 3.0 v6, auto transmission with a blown head gasket but the rig only has 108,000 mi and the entire drivetrain...

I just picked up a 1992 toyota 4runner 3.0 v6, auto transmission with a blown head gasket but the rig only has 108,000 mi and the entire drivetrain is perfectly tight so i figure its perfect for a swap :rockin:, found a 4.3 vortec with 25,000 mi with all wiring harness out of a 2002 silverado for cheap.

I have never done one of these swaps but i have a good idea of what im going to do, (ive done ALOT of research :nerd:) but if you have ANY suggestions, what parts i need, where i can find good parts for good prices, how to wire up the wiring harness, hook up stock guages, please share what you know! it will be very appriciated.

its a completely stock 4runner, im going to throw a 4-5in lift in it and it will have a set of 33x12.5x15 toyo M/T under it with stock 4.10 gears.

post some links to conversion bell housings, motor mounts, etc or if you have found other parts i will need. And THANKS to everyone that throws some info my way

And as for a couple questions will the toyota auto tranny and t-case hold up along with everything else? Where do you think i will have problems? Oh yaeh, and how quick will it be :readit:? how about mialege?

I have a 1993 Toyota 4 runner with over 300,000 miles it has been a great truck. I have done nothing more than regular maintenance, but thats why i,m here now. Time to start doing more than regular maintenance.I had a water leak coming from the area of the water pump so I started disassembling the front of the engine and ran into a few problems when i got to the timing belt. thought I would loosen the timing belt to remove the water pump without changing the belt. Thats when i heard a couple of clicks that sounded like gears turning. I believe my timing got off. How do i fix this?

Well this looks like the best site too use I hope to get on it more now that I have found it. Im a 45 year old married man and Father of 3 older teens . Im a Maintenance Manager by job and an Industrial Mechanic by trade. I like Fishing and hunting, the out doors, Iron Maiden and Love my family. I lucked out on a 98 4runner Limited 3.4l. Up to that point I had always driven North American trucks muscle cars and minivans. I will tell you this right now
aside from the muscle cars. BEST vehicle I have ever owned bar none I like to work on vehicles of my own I always have. I drag a boat all over and then some and hunt in some out there places

So really the Question I would like to get answered is this and hopefully I can get on this site and contribute in some way and learn a little more about this fantastic vehicle and some of the people on this site. Now I did try the search function and found an arcticle about changing 15 houses it was very informative and I will definatly be looking at that after i solve this issue.

Problem:

I have coolant leaking usually it comes from a usual suspect this time it is not. Under the passenger seat between the exhaust and the frame is a channel with factory holes I hope its not what I think it is I believe it is some sort of drainage for the ac/and it is now serving as a drain for a blown heater core. oh one other thing I have a rear heater as well not sure if its electrical or fluid I see no lines to it

If someone could help out with this great all I need is a couple of opinions on this and if the concensus is that it is the heater core what kind of work am I looking at I did a grand Am in the past and it was APITA.

Please Help

Cheers Peter

Hi all, just found this place, I just bought a 1998 Taco with 30K original miles, its a cream puff, unbelievable condition. This is my fifth Toy truck, I have had a 84,87, 2 93's and now the Taco. I love these trucks. So I will be hanging out around here and find out more about the Taco, it is going to take some getting used to, but I think I am going to like it. Thanks for letting me ramble and looking forward to joining in the discussions.
