i don`t really know how many of these bell crank brackets I have replaced I know there has to be a better way i searched all over and could not find anything . anytime you have the different metals you will have issues that is a given

i have no problem with mine because once repaired i use the e-brake all the time.

i was wondering has any one ever drilled out the hole where the pin goes so there is more clearance . Most times I end up cutting the bell crank bracket apart to free up the bell crank to reuse

i am undecided on leaving the rubber boots on Does it keep dirt out or does it hold the dirt in once it gets in there

One problem I could see is maybe the bell crank could move just enough to bind that remains to be seen:camp:

Warfield Off-Road Land Cruiser Storage Drawers review

I have wanted storage drawers for my 80 for a long time. I had an idea in my head and tried to build it out of wood I had laying around, but the top "deck" ended up being too thin to support much weight and it looked like crap.

When I saw Warfield Off-Road's system in this thread over on Mud I was surprised because they were almost exactly what I had pictured in my head. I decided to buy from him because his kits are reasonably priced DIY, can be made any height with many different drawer configurations, and he has a good reputation on this site for doing quality work.

I asked for mine to be a basic drawer kit that would sit level with the second row seats, folded down, so I could throw a mattress back there for camping. I also asked him to add flip up doors on the side wings so it was easier to access the jack storage and the space could be accessed with the tailgate up.

Warfield's kits are available in different finishes, but I wanted mine to be unfinished so I could apply DIY bed liner. I narrowed my choices down to Durabak and Grizzly Grip because of the colors they offer. Grizzly grip won because their colors looked better and they had a special running for a gallon plus a quart and applicator rollers. I got a gallon of Grizzly brown and a quart of Santa Fe brown thinking that mixing them would be close to the color of the interior. It’s a little darker than I thought it would be, but it looks good.

Overall I am very impressed with Warfield Off-Road's system. Everything went together easily and it is rock solid. He has excellent communication and responded quickly to any emailed questions or requests I had. He also sells his kits for different vehicles.

Here is a very good link to an install. His metal sub frames were a great idea for mounting it.

Looking for suggestions on Rear driveline/axle/gear/tcase noise

The problem:

I have a whining noise that has been going on for months ever since I redid my rear suspension/rear driveshaft/rear diff. All was done at once, so there isn't really a way I can separate the specific mods.

Rear diff was re-set up with the same gears and locker due to original install using the wrong bearings. Same gears, but they have a new wear pattern.

No noise prior to that.

Rear driveshaft angles are perfect (ie 0deg) at the diff.

The noise ONLY occurs with slight acceleration above about 40 miles per hour, or at least that is when its noticeable.

The way to get the noise is to accelerate up to 40-45-50 ish, let off the gas completely, and then just BARELY put my foot back on the accelerator. Roughly enough on the gas to maintain speed on flat ground. Hard acceleration and the noise goes away, coasting, the noise goes away.

Here are the stats:

4.88 gears with an ARB diff. CV style (double cardan) driveshaft, .120 wall.

CV was USED out of a 96 taco shortbed. Its the rear joint, so it has plenty of flex.

There are no wear marks on the shaft from grease fittings rubbing, etc...

What I've done:

Pulled the diff to inspect the gears. New pattern seems to be wearing in well.

Changed the diff oil twice. No abnormal shavings/chunks of metal.

Checked the driveshaft: No play in Ujoints that I can see or feel.

However, I DO have some play in the splines where the shaft slips. Maybe a 16th of an inch or so.

Axle housing is straight, wheel bearings seem solid.

No abnormal play in the diff flange or tcase flange.

Noise does not seem to occur in front wheel drive only, leading me to think its possibly not the tcase, or if it is, its the tcase output bearing on the rear.

It is very hard to determine the location of the noise. Half the time it sounds like its coming from the rear end, and the other half from the tcase. This leads me to suspect the driveshaft.

Anyone else have this issue before, and/or know if the little bit of play in the splines would cause this noise?

Need Help! 1994 Toyota Landcruiser 4.5 I6

Problem is with a 1994 Toyota Landcruiser..i have already typed the issue on another forum so i am going to paste it here i have not found a solution...

Problem is with a 1994 Toyota Landcruiser..i have already typed the issue on another forum so i am going to paste it here i have not found a solution yet:pop: Mileage is 194000 still going strong until this..

I have a 94 Toyota Land cruiser with the 4.5 liter inline 6. It has a ton of miles but runs good..a solid truck. Well the only problem that has showed up since i have owed it over a year is it start to sputter or miss right around 1900 rpm's. well i figured it looked like the plug wires and such were old so this weekend it needed a oil change so i figured i would tune it up a well..so i changed the oil, fixed a dry routed hole in the intake hose, cleaned the MAF with proper MAF cleaner, changed the plugs(NGK's) of course, wires, dist cap and rotor...Now the issue is as follows...it now misses at idle but does idle..that is new and when driving it misses up until 1900 rpm. After 1900 it cleans up and is super smooth and has actually more power(feels) then before...so its like the same problem as before is still there but the tune up actually made it more evident..but the entire rest of the RPM band is way smoother and powerful? So i need some help with where to go on this..again i have drove it with the slight miss for over 6 months daily and even pulled heavy boats and all..never a big issue..

the plugs gap are correct and i drove it daily for over a year..no it does not smoke of any kind...the head gasket is not blown. The oil and coolant are clean. And it would not run perfect at any RPM above 1900 if that was the case..i need something else that a tuneup would make this problem worse..and no i never messed with the timing. Fab..get in here..please
Edit/Delete Message

and yes i checked the firing order..it is indeed correct. Do you think and EGR valve that bad could cause this? Kind of and expensive shot in the dark 170 bux...i am going to check the timing says it should be 3 degree's.
Edit/Delete Message

I tried reseting the ecu with the fuse and with the battery..no effect..except it was hard to restart and when it did i had to give it gas then when it fired it blew out smoke from extra gas..still idled the same and same miss..i tired unplugging the ecu fuse while running it made no difference as well as it running with the MAF or the TPS unplugged. To see if it would go into a "safe" or "base" mode..no difference.
Edit/Delete Message

Update..i tried the ecu reset by the fuse and battery..nothing. I drove it some more today to try and further diagnose the problem and it seems it actually not a prob below 1900 rpm like i thought..with more driving it seems to be a problem when using less then 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. It's actually stuttering and missing at idle and really at any speed as long as you are like only giving the truck enough throttle to keep it at the desired speed..if you give it throttle from the go once it stops the missing of idle it is clean running but misses as soon as you get to speed and hold..same if you are holding speed and it downshifts at more then 1/4 throttle it clears right up..would that help you diagnose any more? Also i noticed that while it is idle and misfiring i can notice the dash lights flicker just slightly..is that just from the low rpm's caused by the miss you think or could a bad alternator cause this symptom with the missing? The alternator is not that old 1.5 years or less and again the changing of the plugs, wires, cap and the intake tube leak amplified the problem? Thanks for all your help its really putting me for a loop..i am trying to find another MAF to test but its not easy to find one to barrow. Also i found out through part searching that the truck does have a Ignition control module..would that be a possible cause?

Any help is greatly appericated..

So with way too much procrastinating, I finally did the relay to fix my old worn out switch problem.
I must say this is way better and easier than putting in a push button starter. I can use the key again just like before.
It took about 20 minutes total and except for putting an inline fuse is finished.

Here is the relay pigtail with jumpers that I end up cutting off.

Losing the 2 jumpers. You can see the little diode I don't need.

No more extra wires. I only need the 4

I put on some spade connectors so I could just plug into the original starter wire then another one going out to the starter.

The finished product.
Thank you 4Crawler for all your very informative input. By making the connection at the place you suggested I was able to keep my inline starter cancel switch that's hidden way up under the dash.
Total cost was $8 for the relay and pigtail. I always have wire in the tool box as well as connectors.
Nice neat fix. Not at all jerry rigged. And with the spade connections to the relay I can unplug one if I want added security.
Heck, now that I think of it, I could put in another spade connector on the same wire and totally remove a section of it and put it in my pocket or hide it somewhere. That way someone would have to bump start it to steal it.

All in all, I'd say it came out really well :D I used Textured Metallic black paint, but it came out like a dark ish gray color? oh well, loved the color and the skid has a sand paper feel to it. :)

Its a 2002 Dodge 2500 24v Cummins Diesel, Quad cab, 5-speed (NV4500), longbed, 4wd. Its got 128k miles, but was maintained at the stealership religiously! I traded my 03 Chevy 1500 silverado 4.8 auto 2wd ext cab for it. I wanted something a little better on fuel and something that wont slow down to 30mph from 70 while towing up hill to my favorite wheeling spot!

I got it for 11,500, and traded my chevy for 7k so my payments are $105 a month for 4 years (will pay it off before that), the chevy had 93k miles and was a year newer, but honestly, I needed a 4wd, and something that wont sag with my toyota on the trailer! The 03+ common rail diesels were going for extremely high prices, and none were in as good a shape as this! Its got a couple little things, like the dodge cracked dash, and it needs some maintenance stuff thats expected with 128k miles, but it gets 16mpg which is better than my chevys 13, and I have twice the truck!!!
Has some obvious issues but the largest is it needs a rear passenger side rotor-it was dropped on the ground during a flat tire change....

You guys having owned MR2s... I am coming looking for you!

Hoping to make this a daily driver and rest up my truck for show and shines and trail runs.
