90' 4Runner starts wont stay running

i have a 1990 4 runner SR5 V6, it will start up and run for about 10 to 15 seconds then bog down and die. could this be a bad MAF sensor? If so is there a wat to single it out to that? Any insight would be helpful THANKS.

1. 	does it make a difference if you feather the gas?

2. 	some what it will stay running between 2 and 3k rpms but if you give it more gas it dies and sometimes it will idle just fine. when i plug in the MAF engin dies if running. if i plug it in before starting it wont start at all.
