I ordered the OME 3" heavy duty suspension lift from 4Crawler. I got the 4 shocks, the springs, the caster kit and the steering stabilizer.

At about 8:30 at night my buddy and I decided to see what was involved in installing it, and by 10:00 we had the front shocks and springs installed.

Installation was straight forward, We jacked up the frame, then pulled the tires. We compressed the springs, and they came out easy enough. Putting the springs back in required...

The Radiator leaking was a concern for me. I was able to patch it nicely with a Permatex Radiator repair kit.

While I don't consider this a permanent fix, this will probably hold much longer than...

Baby Steps

My first priorities with this truck are to first make it MVA compliant, and then to make it a reliable daily driver.

I managed to AirCare it with no problems, and was please to learn that all the brakes needed were new bulbs.

I got the engine oil swapped...

I picked up this a 1990 RHD Landcruiser VX today. The previous owner was a kid who played with it, but didn't maintain it, so it's got a lot of little things that need work.

This is the "Bedcruiser" Model, so it has a fold out bed in the back, a sink, and a stove. I haul...

Heater Issues solved.

Today I picked up the new switch, and attempted to install it. It seems I broke off more than one of the tabs that are required to hold it in place, so it wouldn't stay in place.

I used a zap-strap and managed to secure it in a manner that seems to work.

The dash is re-assembled and everything works fine.

I finished the job with a spray and wipe down of the dash and console and it feels like a new truck again.

After hauling a heavy trailer...

Heater Blower not working

Posted 10-27-2009 at 11:46 AM by srozell
Updated 03-26-2011 at 08:24 AM by srozell
For the past few days my heater blower hasn't been working. Today I decided to get to the heart of the problem and get it fixed as Winter is just around the corner.

I started by trying to access the heater unit under the dash. The deeper I got, the more difficult this seemed to reach, due partly to the AC condenser unit that is mounted beside and on top of the heater unit. Eventually I gave up trying to take out the whole heater unit and opted to unbolt the blower from the underside...
