Flex Plate Noise

Posted 06-27-2010 at 06:04 PM by pitt4runner
My 01 4Runner 4X4 automatic started making tapping noise lower end of engine between engine and transmission. Sometimes it will be there and some not but once in drive with torque on transmission, noise goes away. Drove the truck for a week and noise didn't get any louder. I did track it down to one of the flex plate bolts missing. My problem is, I can't find the bolt. It didn't fall out when the cover was removed. I put a magnet up above on top of the engine between the flex plate and engine, no...

Hey everyone!
This is my first post for I have just joined yotatech! I recently have bought myself an 86 pickup 2.4 22re. When, I bought this truck, the efi was all working fine, but now I'm having a problem i think with one of the injectors running too rich. #3 is only firing when I accelerate. I know the cold start injectors have problems in these trucks so we unplugged it since its the muddle of summer, but it still runs rich. I checked my spark plugs and when I pulled out #3 it was all...

22re starts but wont stay running

Posted 06-22-2010 at 07:40 PM by anthony88us
i got a 93 toyota pickup 22re 2wd. it will start for bout one sec but it shuts itself off immediatly. if you give it some gas as soon as it starts it will ignite that little bit of fuel and still dies. i have tried using the jumper wire in the diagnostic port. but it tells me theres no faulty codes just gives me a steady flash. it was running perfectly fine earlier in the day. parked it and went back out to it a couple of hrs later and had this problem all of a sudden. ran like a champ before this...

4 cyl. to V-6... possible?

Posted 06-21-2010 at 02:59 PM by terrorwrist
I have a 1989 4Runner with a 4 cylinder engine and manual transmission. It's a great vehicle but I'm thinking of swapping the engine over to a V-6 from another 4Runner (or possibly brand new) but was wondering if that is possible? Does it matter if I pull it from a same year 4Runner that comes from either an auto or stick trans? Is this even common? I'm doing this to try to get more power and acceleration and a stronger towing capacity since I am starting to use this truck for commutes rather than...

Driver's side door wont open

Posted 06-18-2010 at 05:36 PM by Cheri
I own a 2003 4 Runner and the driver's side door won't open. It sounded like something broke/snapped off on the inside when I went to open it and now it won't open at all. Could this be the same problem as the person with the older model 4 Runner had and the spring broke or does my 4 Runner have a different mechanism on the inside than older models?

Rebuilding the 93 4runner 3vze V6, headers, BL, new bodymounts, new stereo etc.

Posted 06-18-2010 at 12:05 PM by Brhesson
So i started this project by purchasing the 1993 4runner from a mechanic in Eureka Springs, AR at the end of Jan. 2010. It had headgasket issues but started up and drove fine, just lots of white smoke. My brother who is a plant mechanic was out of work and decided he'd "HELP ME" rebuild the motor. We cracked into it got the heads off, headgasket blown. We both expected it to be the drivers side rear (#6) b/c of the exhaust crossover pipe/heat issues there. To our amazement we found...

I bought a 1994 3.0 toyota xcab pickup about 3 years ago. Man was I impressed with this buy. Resently the timing belt broke and I repaired it myself. I have tried to set the timing but when I place the jumper(TE1 to E1) there is no change in the timing and the check engine light does not come on (i have checked the light bulb). The issue I have now is that it is hard to start, like a fuel problem. I replaced the fuel pump and the filter. I have replaced the coil thinking it is a spark problem. No...
