Bad oil pump????

Posted 01-19-2009 at 08:42 AM by justo132
Hi! I am new to this site so please be easy on me. I have always used this site for research but now have a question. I have a 1990 Pickup SR5 V6. I noticed about 2-3 months ago that my oil pressure seemed to be slowly dropping. At one point it dropped to the very bottom line on my gauge but if I hit the gas it would rise. My mechanic noticed it also but said the engine sounds good so it might be a bad gauge. Anyways 2 weeks ago I started my rig up and noticed a tap that sounded like it was coming...

Posted 01-18-2009 at 12:31 PM by zip
I have a 95 runner and have no heat at idle.
so I checked the coolant level and found it to be low about a half a quart. This has happened twice,so I topped off coolant and bought a new rad cap and installed it. I also notice while it was running and up to temp that the coolant reservoir had small bubbles comming from the coolant inside and smells like exhaust and little somkey. It dose not miss nor is there any steam or white smoke comming from the tail pipe. I have drove it several miles...

no brakes, in extreme cold

Posted 01-17-2009 at 02:26 PM by mainlyboutmusic
Hey, Guys: I'm new to this, as I moved to northern michigan, last year, and NOBODY drives or works on Toyotas!!!! Even my brother whines about my awesome truck. [who's truck does he prefer to drive? that'd be MINE]. Anyway, this past week I've run into a bit of a hassle. No brakes. Pedal has no movement. Today, it has sat for days and up to 6 degrees...and, magically, brakes, again. Any suggestions? Yes, there's fluid. Pads have about 10k on them, 94k on truck.

PS: To those...

Please Help!!

Posted 01-17-2009 at 12:57 PM by npeoni
1995 4runner idling wild and throwing some black smoke I own a 1995 runner 3.0L. The truck has been running great.. It got really cold last night.... I went to start the truck using the the clutch cancel button./ It started but was running rough, when I came back outside it was jumping from 400-500rpm up to 1200rpm back and forth kinda sputtering a little, and throwing some black smoke. When I get in and drive away, it ran alot better, no check engine light,...

87 toyota pickup 22r

Posted 01-17-2009 at 11:59 AM by yotojoe
Updated 01-19-2009 at 07:43 AM by yotojoe (additional info)
I just learned that I have a cracked head on my 22r and I'm wondering if I can just replace that head with one that I have found in a salvage lot without damage to the rest of the engine. The engine has 158313 miles and has had water in the oil. I'm considering doing a complete overhaul myself. I've just changed the timing chain and cover so I would hate to have to change the mains. Any in put would be appreciated.

Moment of silence

Posted 01-15-2009 at 01:58 PM by flashkl
Tuesday evening, my friend hit a patch of black ice in his Lexus IS300 wagon, spun it around, and wrapped his passenger side around a tree. Both him and his buddy who was riding shotgun walked away no problems, and the car was still able to get them home. So here's a moment of silence for the poor IS300...

On a lighter note, a commercial airliner that took off from LaGuardia airport today had an engine failure and crash landed in the Hudson River. All people aboard lived, were rescued,...

Not a snow day

Posted 01-15-2009 at 03:22 AM by flashkl
We got about 2 inches of snow last night on top of an inch already on the ground and a layer of ice. It's supposed to snow all through the day and leave 3-5 inches on the ground. All this is good news, except my school seems to think that everybody's got a lifted 4x4 like me and will have no problem attending today. This is the same school that two years ago closed for two days because there was a little bit of ice on the roads around it. Grrr.

starting my 3.4 conversion on my 92 3.slo!

Posted 01-14-2009 at 09:09 PM by vital22re
Updated 01-14-2009 at 09:10 PM by vital22re
So today i went ahead and pulled out the 3.0. Luckily i got it out by my self and took less than 4 hours. It really helps to have experience in pulling out the motor once before. Next step is to presure wash the engine bay and get the area ready to swap the parts over from the 3.0. Also get the fuel lines moved. Hopefully the 3.4 gets here soon!!! Looking for any members close to kirkland that wanna help.

The 4WD SAGA

Posted 01-14-2009 at 06:01 PM by khoopes
I have an 88 Truck and I drive about 4,000 to 5,000 miles a month. I like to switch in my 4WD on crummy/rough/gravel roads sometimes to provide enhanced traction control. So, I want to remove my manual hubs and install auto hubs or do an ADD conversion. I have a couple Auto hubs but they are not complete. Toyota only sell the Brake assembly and the Hub assembly as individual part numbers, so you cannot get individual parts for the hubs. Maybe somebody out there will read this and help me out with...

So I have no idea how people find these blogs. Do you have to go to somebodys blog manually, or is there like a Most Recently Updated blogs list? Gotta look around... and there it is! Recent entries! Yotatech is psychic...

Got a new exhaust yesterday. It's a custom bent by meineke catback with a flowmaster 40 delta flow muffler, 2.25 inch pipes. Sounds damn good, and noticeable extra power too. Love it so far.

Here's what is sounds like

Posted 01-13-2009 at 06:42 PM by vital22re
so after goin through and spending 3 hours finding and calling wrecking yards i have found a 98 4runner v6 5spd. The best part is I got everything i need from that truck for 1600 bucks with tax. I'm gonna convert the crossover so i can use my exhuast thats already on the truck. And my wiring shall be done by me. I made the mistake of replacing the 3.0 with a rebuilt one 12,000 miles ago and now the headgasket is goin out. I've got a 93 honda accord for a dd so this project...

Blog blog blog
I am into roof top tents, me thinks they are a very cool way to set up a rig for camping and expedition use.

I have pics of my setup in my buildup thread in my sig file, and also my camping pics from Mt. Rainier from August of 2008.

I will include a few pictures here and links to my model.
