thinkin of swapin my stock 22RE alternator for a gm alternator anybody done that before? Or know what it takes to do that??

heres my problem, when i sit at a light and only when i have my foot on the brake my idle pulses from roughly 900 rpms to almost 1500 rpms. if i can keep my foot off the brake it doesnt do anything... i replaced the vaccume lines to the brake booster thinking that i had a leak but didnt change a thing i need some helpful input cause its buggin the crap outta me!
