super easy install, regular tools plus dial caliper to measure clearance, torque wrench, and some way to hold third while retorquing ring gear and caps.went offroading for a test saturday. locked the hubs 4low and walked over stuff that used to be a challenge .more effort to turn but then there a lockrite up front too now .put it in 2 low and walked up the same trail that used to be very difficult in 4wd without lockers .the same trails i could not pass in stock 4x4 i can now do in 2wd.the single most effective modification you can do.total cost 243 bucks ebay, plus gear oil 12 bucks and maybe 3 1/2 hours.absolutley best bang for your buck ..

i located a complete unmolested rear end drum t drum to replace the bent one. had it out in 2 hours .it cost 220 out the door.also found a sr5 mag for 40 bucks. before swapping in the 488s to the new housing i installed the spartan locker very simple install.the hardest part was holding the third in the vice for a makeshift stand to retorque the ring gear and bearing caps.it drives a little different not bad though.not too loud either.i havn't been offroading yet .now i need to get an alighnment ,but thinking bj spacers first.
