super easy install, regular tools plus dial caliper to measure clearance, torque wrench, and some way to hold third while retorquing ring gear and caps.went offroading for a test saturday. locked the hubs 4low and walked over stuff that used to be a challenge .more effort to turn but then there a lockrite up front too now .put it in 2 low and walked up the same trail that used to be very difficult in 4wd without lockers .the same trails i could not pass in stock 4x4 i can now do in 2wd.the single most effective modification you can do.total cost 243 bucks ebay, plus gear oil 12 bucks and maybe 3 1/2 hours.absolutley best bang for your buck ..

I was hit by a semi truck this morning!the driver just came over as if i wasnt there .the lugs on his front axle caught my rear pas. wheel.the ride took me all the way round to the curb backwards, and ended on the sidewalk.i thought for sure my 4runner was totaled, but was suprized to see zero body damage!..the wheel was missing a piece as well as the tire.the driver side rear wheel has a good dent too maybe bent the battery shifted enough to yank the fuse box wire loose.put on the spare the wheel looks crooked and it drives wierd too, dogtracking a bit.the good news is i saw some 2nd g axles at pickapart for 100 bucks plus i have a spartan locker to put in it along with my 488s!!!
