91 toyota drains battery

i just bought a 91 toyota pickup an there is a switch mounted on the bottom side of the dash. If th switch is left on it drains the battery. i get the purpose of the switch but it is a pain because i tend to leave it on and drain the battery. dose anybody have any ideas on where to start or how to track a battery dain down.
