99' 4Runner Towing Capabilites

I own a 99' Toyota 4Runner with a 183hp V6 that displaces a max torgue of 217lb-ft. I have recently installed a class III hitch and a trailer lighting kit. Other than emergency towing and some practice with an empty trailer, I have not yet towed any really weight.
Toyota 4Runners have a max towing capacity of 5000lbs, a Gross Combined Weight Rating of 9200lbs, and a curb weight of around 3885lbs. Assuming four people in the vehicle at 150lbs each and 200lbs of equipment in the vehicle itself, I estimate the truck can realilistically tow 4500lbs. Does this sound accurate?
I would like to know if anyone with a similar vehicle has towed the following with success or if anyone has an educated guess as to whether my truck could do it.
-A boat with a dry weight of ~3,500lbs and trailer
-With the use of tow bars and base plates, a classic sports car, ex. 74 Dodge Charger- 4,100lbs.
Also, my Boy Scout troop has a single axle enclosed cargo trailer that they fill every available space with. These kind of trailers have a GVWR of 3000lbs. However, being that we overload them, people believe that trailer weighs 7000lbs. Tandem axle trailers of a heaiver curb weights usually have a GVWR of 7000lbs and I think the axle of a trailer built to weigh 3000lbs would snap at 7000lbs. Am I the only one who thinks this is impossible?
I want to start using my 4Runner for towing soon, but I want to find out what I can and cannot do with my truck. Does anyone have any words of towing wisdom?
