We've had many Volvos in our family over the years, and have had excellent experiences with all of them. I drove one in college, and I'm driving one, again, since my Dad gave me the old '83 GLT wagon. He took to driving the '01 Cross Country, after my Mom passed away. Because of the milage on the '83, there was no way that he was going to get anything for it, so he gave it to me as a back up vehicle. There is now 335,000 miles on it, and it stills goes up to the tunnel (Eisenhower) with the best of them. It burns some oil, but should be good to about 400,000 before I have to do anything major to it!
I would have probably gotten a Volvo when I bought my BMW, if they had offered manuals with their turbo models in the early '90s.
