Anyone (Like Kyle/outdoorfever) who hasn't done the idler arm bushing repair yet, should expect to do this, or have this done along with the recall.

My theory is that some people let that bushing wear down too much, then when the bushing is gone, the eye of the idler arm starts wearing down. Eventually, that eye will be the weakest link... When it's thin enough, it will form the stress fracture which that Toyota is recognizing.

That would explain why it's a recall, the bushing wears out whether you're on the road or off...

I really think a bronze bushing would be better in there than that plastic piece...anybody wanna start making them?


EDIT:

I had forgotten which end the bushings were on!

On Kyle's truck, the joint between the idler arm and the relay rod is worn out... I was thinking the infamous idler arm bushing was in that joint...
