Thanks for that info. These auto transmissions are very complicated, it can be very difficult to pin down specific problems.

I asked about the CV's and universal joints because I will be replacing the CV boots for sure this weekend as well as the front rotors. I have a nasty rumble in the steering column when I apply the brakes.

I had the same symptoms with my SR5. Instead of replacing the CV boots(if they've been torn for awhile the CV joints might be shot), I bought two new axles for about $90 each at Schucks. That took care of the problem.
