That would be spring hangers. The perches are the parts that weld to the top of the axle for the springs to sit on. I think that 3.5" square tubing (0.250 wall) is used for the hanger, makes 3" inside width.

I was wondering about perches, wasnt sure what they were called though. I didnt remember seeing anything in the FAQ about them. I reused my perches from the stock set up and got procomp 3 inch lift shocks and they are still 3 inches short. Is it standard procedure to weld on perches to the axel housing? or should I just get longer shocks?
