It is doable and it has been done before, a quick search yeilded this thread:

things to think about
: all the wiring, disconnecting the brake MC, you are gonna need to cut a hole in the tunnel to allow your TC lever to come through, that is just off the top of my head... If you have a chain hoist or something like that it would make life easier...start soaking bolts with some rust penetrator now...
